MHFA Refresher

Mental Health First Aid certification lasts three years - but the skills can fade well before that, especially when they're not used regularly. This half-day refresher is designed to bring them back.

The MHFA Refresher is an MHFA England course for qualified MHFAiders.

In four hours, delegates revisit the MHFA action plan, update their knowledge of mental health and current support, and leave with renewed confidence to do the role well.

Delivered online or in-person. Up to 25 delegates per session.

Most MHFAiders are trained once and then expected to hold that role for three years or more. Some use the skills regularly. Many don't - until someone needs them. When that moment arrives, confidence matters as much as knowledge, and both fade without practice.

This course isn't just a tick-box update. It's a chance for your MHFAiders to refresh their skills in a supported environment, reconnect with the purpose of the role and leave feeling genuinely ready - rather than quietly hoping they won't be needed.

MHFA England recommends the Refresher for any MHFAider approaching or past the three-year mark on their certification.

By the end of the MHFA Refresher, delegates will have:

• Updated their knowledge of mental health and the factors that influence it

• Practised applying the MHFA action plan in scenario-based exercises

• Renewed their three-year MHFAider certification

• Reconnected with the MHFAider Support App® and latest MHFA England resources

Based on evaluation data from Jake's Refresher delivery:

• confidence in supporting colleagues moves from 6.7 to 8.8 out of 10 (+31%).

• Knowledge moves from 6.8 to 9.0 out of 10 (+31%).

• Instructor rating: 9.80/10.

• Likelihood to recommend: 9.70/10.

• A half-day course (four hours), delivered online or in-person at your location.

• Mix of presentations, group discussion and scenario-based activities

• Maximum 25 participants per session - larger than the full course to allow broader organisational reach

• Individual places available on open online cohorts where in-house booking is not required
